    Artist Statement

My current work is a process of "re-weaving the world," in all its disparities.  I collect textile materials, discarded objects on the street, and contributions from friends and family, and weave, stitch, felt, loop, and twist them together as "nests" and "bird-like objects."

Using natural materials (wool, cotton and plant materials) and remnants of culture (i.e. plastics, metal, technology, toys) I write about, organize and infuse meaning into each piece, creating a painterly approach to the work with active stitches (like drawn lines and brush strokes) and use of color, form, and texture.

I subsume man-made material culture into nature, mending the broken connections in a ritual practice of weaving, stitching, collecting and combining.
